In this chapter, Avis' dream comes true when her father invites the gorgeous, and intellectually perfect Ernest Everhard (ugh) to dinner again. He battles with the last, remaining priest that will talk to him, and Avis barely talks. But when she does, an armless man wanders by the dining room window and Ernest dares her to talk to him.
